Question: I don't see a picture on my monitor, what could be wrong?
Answer: Is the monitor power light lit? If not the monitor may need checked. No picture most of the time means a problem with either the monitor or the video card. Any easy way to check would be to connect a known working monitor and see if it works. If it does, then your monitor is bad. If it doesn't work, then it could be that your video card needs replaced. Sometimes reseating (pulling out and putting back in) the video card does the trick. If your monitor powers up and has no picture and your PC doesnt seem to be booting, it could be that your modem has become faulty. Remove the modem to test whether it boots, if so the modem needs replaced.

Question: Why doesn't my PC power up?
Answer: There are quite a few reason why this may happen. If you push the power button and your PC doesn't power up, then you may need to replace the power supply. No power light usually means faulty power supply. Another reason may be that your modem has become faulty and is keeping it from powering up. Remove the modem and see if it powers up. Below are the most common causes of PC's not powering up.

  3. Harddrive
  4. Motherboard
  5. Power switch on rear of PC not turned on

Question: I can't get on the internet. Why not?
Answer: This can be answered in many different ways.
  1. You should confirm with your ISP (Internet Service Provider) that they are not experiencing problems. DSL and Cable broadband connections occasionally may simply need to be reset by restarting the modem/router. This can be done by unplugging the modem/router for a minute or two and plugging it back in.

  2. If you are on a dial-up connection and your modem is saying "no dial tone", first check that the line is plugged in. If it is and the line is live, your modem probably needs replaced.

  3. If it appears that you are connected, but you can't get any internet sites, you may have a browser hijacker. One way to confirm this is if you can get your email but not internet pages. In this case you may need to bring it in to be cleaned.

An additional note here: Alot of the FREE software downloads on the internet include added software (spyware) that you may not be aware of. When downloading and installing software, make it a habit of reading the EULA (End User License Agreement) to see just what you are intalling. If it mentions installing additional software in order to use the program, then be wary of using it altogether.
